Beneficio San Vicente is among the most respected operations in specialty coffee. When Fidel Paz started buying and selling coffee in Santa Bárbara Department in the 1980s, Honduras did not have an excellent reputation for its coffee quality. Since the early 2000s, thanks to the extended Paz family and competitions like the Cup of Excellence, San Vicente has helped establish Honduras as a source of some of the world's very best coffees. 

Most of the coffees milled at San Vicente originate from the highlands around the Santa Bárbara Mountain and Lake Yojoa. The area's misty conditions and cool temperatures prolong the maturation period for coffee fruits.
