This is our sixth year buying coffee from Alto Naranjal, a small community high in the mountains of Nariño, Colombia. The name describes the fragrant orange groves shrouding the lower elevations—halfway up the mountain, the tree cover becomes sparse and the scent of wheel crushed oranges dissipates into the heady perfume of coffee blossoms.

This fully washed caturra from Marco Antonio Muñoz is absolutely delicious—sweet, structured, and crystalline in its clarity. Look for baked apple, green grape, and sweet orange along with candied pecan and warm, buttery caramels.

Marco Antonio Muñoz tends a small farm near Buesaco, Nariño, delivering parchment coffee to Pergamino's collection point there. Nariño is an almost mythical region in the specialty coffee pantheon. Colombia's three cordilleras—the parallel ranges that comprise the Andes—converge in Nariño, which is crossed by the equator, flanked by the Pacific, and dotted with volcanoes.

The highest elevations—above 12,000 feet—are home to the páramo ecosystem, an alpine tundra under perpetual cloud cover.

An exceptional brew
If Partners had this all the time, this could be my every day go to. Unfortunately it like so many of my other favorites is one of the here and gone varieties. It is full of flavor, balanced and has just that right amount of fruity characteristic. Whole bean, French press.

Sublime Single Origin Medium Roast
The tasting notes are spot on. I love the notes of fruit and nuttiness in this perfectly balanced medium roast, which l brewed in french and aero pressed. Will need to brew with the chemex next to see what other notes it yields. Really nice. Thank you!
