This wonderful coffee comes from the red clay hills of Ngozi, Burundi. Bavyeyi - which means "parents" in Kirundi - represents around 600 total producers, led by and largely composed of women. 
Natural processing brings delicious fruit notes that invoke plump summer berries and decadent cream. We're tasting strawberry, blackberry, yellow peach, blood orange, and vanilla in a full-bodied cup - an excellent profile in both hot and iced preparations.

This selection comes from JNP Coffee, an inspiring company at the heart of Burundian specialty coffee. JNP is celebrated not just for their coffee quality, but also for their gender-sensitive approach to development. The company was founded in 2012 by Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian, who was born in Bujumbura to a family of coffee producers and has now become a respected leader in specialty coffee in the United States. 

Bavyeyi means "parents" in Kirundi and is named in honor of the coffee growers like Jeanine's mother who cultivate coffee to pay for their children's education. The group consists of about 600 producers in Ngozi Province, led by and largely composed of women...
